Reuben Mellor & Jimmy Greaves just off stage after performing a comic skit “Captain Sustainability” to open the NESS 2010 Public Forum.
They are posing in front of the Opera House Chicken Coop that Reuben’s dad had made and which was showcased at this year’s SLEx( Sustainable Living Expo).
The boys had recently created the “Captain Sustainability” sketch as a short presentation on the final day of the local YouthLead Congress held in November at UNE.
With a couple of rehearsals and some graphics for screen projection, created by UNE student Matt Wittingham – the boys knocked everyone out with a witty take on “Saving The World”.
Local State member of parliament and UNE Cancellor Richard Torbay & behind him Armidale Dumaresq Shire mayor Peter Ducat behind him – picture right.

SVM also supplied the “Boast Card” Concept – a chance for locals to brag about their achievements in the last 2 yrs since the previous forum. The Boast cards were designed and produced by event co-ordinator and exhibition curator Irene Lemon.

Made for the NES 2010 Forum – one of a number of short videos looking at how local business & enterprise have engaged with Sustainability since the 2008 public forum. Not only have projects & inititaives escalated in number and size over that time, but the use of old & new media has grown from sparse and sporadic coverage in our local papers to concerted public awareness campaigns, web sites, digital media production, social media and more.
