SVM partnered with Adam Blakester of Starfish Initiatives back in 2011-12 to help the Tamworth Youth Action Working Group facilitate the development of these goals and objectives. The new Centre is now well and truly up and running and now the more challenging work begins. One of the large scale Whole-of-Community projects SVM has made a contribution to over the 8 years of operation.

The pic is from 2012 of Youth Services Coordinator, Steve Blanch, a long time colleague, who has tirelessly driven this huge project for almost 10 years. This was taken at a Youth Forum in the old PCYC facility.

A joint project between the Social Workers In Schools initiative, which is piloting the placement of Social Work students from UNE in disadvantaged and rural and remote schools and the Higher Education Participation Program which targets year 7 and 8 students introducing them to the prospects of higher education. These kinds of intervention programs are proving successful in encouraging kids from lower SES backgrounds and from regional and remote communities to begin to consider higher education as a real possibility for their futures.

SVM collaborates again with Brendan Blacklock to document the 8 days of the project. On location for 5 days in Coonamble, western NSW and the 3 days in Armidale, visiting the University.
