Over 12 months work on this one – the biggest project Dr Lorina Barker and I have developed – a culmination of almost 10 years of mentoring, consultancy and collaboration, exploring the use of other media to communicate research and oral histories.

Video, including 360 and drone video, photography, painting, song, sculptures, mixed media installation, performance, poetry and text and more!
A great team of local artists pulled together for this exhibition, which will tour in 2018.

Here’s the Anaiwan Language Revival Program Fundraiser YouTube video. SVM shot footage at Gara Gorge and at Ingleba and Callum Clayton-Dixon, one of the founders of the program, shot extra footage, added some voiceovers he recorded and edited the piece. Always great to have project participants hands-on with production and post. SVM strives to empower people at grass roots & community level to produce their own media.

Recently had the privilege of travelling with a crew lead by Producer/DP colleague Brendan Blacklock to record the journey of 5 generations of Harold Hunt’s family as he took them back to Country – a journey to ancestral lands and revisiting places that are part of Harold’s life story. An almost 4500 kms journey through outback NSW – Wilcannia, Mutawintji, Broken Hill, Tibooburra, Wanaaring and then finally Bourke. An epic undertaking for Harold, who’ll be 92 this year, to share his stories with family in the very places he lived and worked. These are from Mutawintji – the sacred site of the creation stories of the Malyangaapa people.
