Project Scoping Trip Outback NSW

Posted: November 28, 2017 in Uncategorized

Just back from a project scoping trip with Dr Lorina Barker for a proposed project that traces the Baiame Songlines stories of the people of far western NSW
We’ve revisited Bourke and Brewarrina and extended our exploration of country that was culturally significant to the peoples of the region, particularly the Ngemba.

Lorina is interested in following the songlines of the creation stories of several tribal groups/clans who share the Biame story but under different moieties and totems and for whom there are different sites of cultural significance. This research will be overlaid with the stories of the forced removals of Aboriginal people from these place in the past, with stories of how they have continued their connection with these places, language, culture and stories through the 20th and into the 21st centuries.

Here’s a few pics from the trip that also included visits to Byrock, Mt Oxley, Mt Gundabookah, Yanda Camp.
